Adderall XR 30mg is widely known for its use in treating ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). But is Adderall XR 30mg effective? What are the dosage and usage instructions? Please read on to learn more about this product below.
What is Adderall XR 30mg?
Adderall XR 30mg is a prescription medication that stimulates the central nervous system and is commonly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults and children over 6 years of age. It is manufactured by Shire USA Inc. of the United States and is currently available in the Vietnamese market.
Ingredient
Each Adderall XR 30mg extended-release capsule contains the following active ingredients:
Amphetamine 30mg
In addition, it contains other excipients in sufficient quantities.
Effects of Adderall XR
Amphetamine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant that acts by increasing dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin through various mechanisms.
Amphetamines reach the presynaptic axon terminal through diffusion or absorption by monoamine transporters DAT, NET, and SERT. Once at the presynaptic terminal, amphetamines increase monoamine neurotransmitters by inhibiting the monoamine transporter VMAT2 and disrupting the electrochemical gradient.
Amphetamine also inhibits the metabolism of monoamine neurotransmitters by inhibiting MAO (monoamine oxidase). Simultaneously, it stimulates intracellular TAAR1 receptors and extends to NET and SERT receptors. This increases the dopamine flow to the synaptic clefts, leading to inhibition of reuptake and direct competition.
Uses and indications of Adderall XR 30mg
Adderall XR 30mg is commonly used in the following cases:
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy in adults and pediatric patients aged 6 years and older.
Adderall XR 30mg is a medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption
The drug is well absorbed in the intestines, with the strongest effect occurring approximately 1-3 hours after oral administration and about 15 minutes after injection. Bioavailability is over 75%, and complete absorption occurs after about 4-6 hours. The effect lasts from 4-24 hours after oral administration.
Distribution
The volume of distribution of the drug is approximately 4 L/kg.
Metabolism
Amphetamine is primarily metabolized in the liver via CYP2D6, with the main metabolic pathways being fatty hydroxylation, aromatic hydroxylation, and n-dealkyl dehydrogenation, producing metabolites such as hippuric acid, 4-hydroxynor ephedrine , benzyl methyl ketone, benzoic acid, and p-hydroxyamphetamine. These metabolites all produce strong hallucinations .
Eliminate
The half-life of amphetamine depends primarily on its isomer; for the D isomer, the half-life is approximately 9-11 hours, and for the L isomer, the half-life is approximately 11-14 hours.

Because amphetamine clearance is reduced in patients with severe renal impairment (GFR 15 to <30 mL/min/1.73 m2), the recommended dose should be reduced to 15 mg once daily in the morning.
For pediatric patients aged 6-17 years with severe renal impairment, the recommended dose is 5 mg once daily. The maximum dose for children aged 6-12 years with severe renal impairment is 20 mg once daily.
